~1990–1994

It had been restored before I bought it, which was either a selling point or a warning sign depending on your perspective. It had a Chevy 6 engine swapped in, which was probably the worst part of it. Everything else worked as expected for a 25-year-old British truck.

I named it Kung San after the native tribespeople of the Kalahari, which is also the name from The Gods Must Be Crazy β€” the film where the Kalahari bushmen find a Coke bottle and consider it a gift from the gods, and the Land Rover called β€œThe Antichrist.” The timing was right; the film had just come out. It seemed like an appropriate homage.

It appeared in a Four Wheeler Magazine article. I have a framed copy.

I had the Amigo at the same time. That’s not unusual β€” having two vehicles that both run and both make sense for different purposes is not hoarding, it’s preparation.
