Fry’s Electronics.
Went to Fry’s, didn’t find anything I needed to buy, did get to try out several of the Android pads. I can’t tell the difference other than that they all basically suck. You pick them up, they’re heavy and awkward, and they’ve got ugly buttons hidden all over the place, so the first thing is to determine how to turn the damned thing on. Then the screens are cluttered and ugly, and the apps are all over the place. Finally there’s the buzzing keyboard thing — they couldn’t stand that there was no tactile feedback when you hit the screen keys, so they add a silly buzz that’s annoying and probably wears down the batteries. One of the notepad apps wanted to interpret all my words before putting them onscreen; the other didn’t correct my mistakes as I went along.
I guess all these are adjustable, but the default is to be annoying.
