Phil Heald to Fred Heald, faxed from the Imperial Hardware Company Macintosh, El Centro.
“Thanks again for your help in getting my FAX capacity back. If you get this message, you’ll know it still is working. I do believe I am going to need some more RAM chips, as when I was doing some testing yesterday faxing to Mom at the Club I had too many programs open at once and it wouldn’t let me transmit for lack of memory. I think I can do that replacement now that you showed me how to open the computer. I’ll get the stuff and try, anyway. I went ahead and ordered the printer, the modem for home, and the PC card for my portable.”
That’s my dad. He’s running a twelve-location hardware chain across the Imperial Valley, Blythe, and Yuma, it’s December 29th, and the first thing on the fax is whether the RAM upgrade I talked him through held up.
He did the whole thing himself. He just needed to know how to open the case.
