Slides from 1966. Dad was a baby boomer on a Rotary trip; I was a baby at home.
Dad took a Rotary trip to Australia in 1966, when I was still a baby. The joey. Dad shot a kangaroo, and when the guides picked it up the joey was still there β alive, in the pouch. He wanted to keep it. But to the guides, kangaroos were vermin. They thought of them about the way we think of rats. The joey stayed behind.
Dad did come home with the motherβs pelt as a rug.
Many mixed-up feelings there.
