Kip brought chocolate from Germany, as he sometimes does, being Kip.
Dora, the dog, ate the chocolate.
Two vet visits. Expensive, even with the employee discount we had through the animal hospital. Chocolate toxicity in dogs is dose-dependent, and Dora had gotten into a meaningful amount. She required treatment.
She recovered.
The chocolate was apparently excellent German chocolate, which is to say it was a particularly expensive snack from Doraβs perspective. We learned to keep incoming packages secured until we knew what was in them.
Dora lived for many more years after this. She did not learn to not eat chocolate.
