~2006. The closing performance.
I have friends who are fire performers. They did the closing show at our wedding using fire poi and fire staffs.
About halfway through the performance, the lead performer hit herself with a wet poi. The poi extinguished on contact. Her pants, which were not wet, caught fire.
Fortunately they had a good safety person there who put it out immediately with a wet towel. The performer was fine. The performance continued. The parents’ friends had something to talk about for the rest of the evening — possibly the rest of the year.
