Things I’m thinking about:

  • Email spam.
  • Viruses, worms, trojans.
  • Security attacks.
  • Complex software becomes more vulnerable.
  • Increasing complexity.
  • User skills don’t increase much if at all.
  • The ongoing death of the Macintosh.
  • Usability taking a back seat to marketing.
  • Open source failing to “take hold” (Europe).
  • Failure of judgments against Microsoft to have any affect.
  • Continuing support of legacy crap.
  • Failure to convert to paperless.
  • Systems are too complex for a single person to understand.
  • Single source that runs on all OSs — OSs should be designed to support applications, not the reverse.
  • Copyright restrictions.
  • Patent crisis.
  • More and more reliance on computer systems, especially personal computers.
