Imperial Valley Food Bank, El Centro. Rated ★★★★★
Disclaimer: my parents help support this organization. The Imperial Valley Food Bank distributes surplus food, mostly from government donations, to local need-based charities. We got to take a tour of the Food Bank the other day, and it’s beautiful and well-organized, with a lot more amenities than you’d expect. There’s a beautiful clean warehouse and freezers, with high volume rolling pallet racks, as well as a separate area for personally donated items. They have a large training kitchen that’s used for food preparation and safety classes. There’s outdoor space for education and events, as well as some grow areas for fruits and vegetables. Everything is well-organized and well-labeled. The staff is super friendly. I’m not sure this place needs a review — it’s not the sort of place you’d come to shop — but it’s a great organization and it deserves your support!
