Denver, Colorado. Meow Wolf: Convergence Station.
Meow Wolf is a large interactive art installation in Denver β four connected universes, each with its own visual logic, accessible through various portals and passages. Dylan was nine. He found it confusing and enormous and exactly the right amount of overwhelming.
I got a parking ticket.
The parking situation at Meow Wolf requires you to find a payment station that I did not find. I thought the lot was free. The lot was not free. The ticket was the standard consequence.
I am mildly irritated by parking situations that are designed to produce tickets rather than revenue from parked cars. The payment booth was not visible from where I parked. This is a design choice.
The ticket was not expensive. The installation itself was outstanding β genuinely one of the stranger things Iβve done with Dylan, and weβve done some strange things. The Convergence Station has a bureaucratic horror-comedy section involving a fictional interplanetary transit hub that I found extremely funny and Dylan found completely bewildering, which may tell us something about the target audience.
We got lunch at a counter-service place near the installation. The food was fine. The conversation was mostly Dylan explaining which part of which installation he had or had not understood.
