Café Flore, San Francisco.
Bought a MUNI pass I couldn’t resist — didn’t really understand that it didn’t count on BART as well, but meh, it should work, and it gets me on the cable cars.
I’m here because Sean Wolfe recommended it for the bloody mary, which is salty and peppery and spicy, very nice. The weather is cool but not quite cool enough for the sweater and hat I brought, and my left toe is giving me grief from the sesamoid joint. But I guess I’ll keep walking.
There’s a woman that just walked by that could totally pass for Pamarie.
I do think that every bloody mary deserves a big thick slice of bacon.
City Beer, San Francisco, 3:23 PM:
Did a lot of walking. Five and Diamond had cool stuff, very expensive. Mission Thrift had cool clothes, but nothing in my size. Foxy Lady had stuff in my size, but nothing cool. Grabbed a bus, then walked some more — I have a bus pass, but I don’t really know where any of them go, so it’s easier to just hoof it till I’m in the right direction.
Foot hurts, but I got some Naproxen. Still hurts and probably will tonight, but it’s not stopping me. It is hot though, and I’m sweating into my hat — didn’t need a sweater, it turns out.
Talked to a cool guy at Gamma Go — though they didn’t have what I was looking for, he was friendly and told me about interesting places around, including this one.
13,000 steps. That’s what the bloody mary money buys.
June 30 — Sears Fine Food, Union Square:
Slept late and had a lazy morning, talked to Mom and Dad, who just got back from their cross-country trip. It’s 115 in El Centro today — but at least they’re used to it.
Crumb cake and a side of bacon — not the healthiest of breakfasts, but not a lot worse than usual. I walked my ass off again yesterday and didn’t eat much. Not sure what to do this morning — we head to Berkeley this afternoon.
