Fred met him at Pomona, in Smiley Hall. Swimmer and water polo player; friends with Thomas. Became one of the Doofs through Fred. “Grew old and wise a lot earlier than the rest of us” — meant as a compliment. Amateur marine biologist; Fred visited tide pools with him and Diane Cordingley. Married Brenda Killen (“Brender”) — career NGO worker, very smart; two daughters. Lived in Paris as of 2009; later Switzerland.
