Southwest Airlines, Houston to El Paso.
I’m starting to make lists of stuff to get for the Pinzgauer; number one is to fiddle with the carbs and see if there’s a way to lean them out a bit, or at least make sure they aren’t leaking. Guess I’ll pull the engine cover off tomorrow just to see what’s under it.
I can’t even tell you how excited I am about this damned car. I’m not THAT easy to please, but I’m pretty damned easy.
I’ve been thinking about licence plates. PFRED — sort of a combination of Pinz, Fred, and German for “horse.” Or maybe PFREDZ. No real point to that I guess.
And I need to get it into good enough shape to drive up to visit LQ, and to drive down to SD next weekend. I want to try putting the tarps up, to see how that works and looks. And try pulling all the levers, and opening all the compartments, just to see what’s hiding. It seems pretty clean; I guess I could give it a bath, inside with rags or something.
I also want a licence plate frame that says “Pinzgauer / Swiss Army Truck.” I don’t know what sort of a funky novelty place you’d go for one of them.
Interesting that I won’t be able to go to any more British car shows; I don’t know that there are German car shows, though I suppose there would have to be. Besides which it isn’t really even German, though I sort of think of Austria as more German than Germany.
