“We went to different schools together.”

The Claremont Colleges are a consortium in Claremont, California — Pomona, CMC, Scripps, Pitzer, Harvey Mudd, and the graduate university — sharing a campus, dining halls, classes, and a social life. Fred was at Pomona, 1984–1988. The dining halls mixed everyone; the social scene didn’t respect enrollment records. The Doofs are what remained — but the Doofs weren’t everyone, and everyone wasn’t the Doofs.
