Fred's first serious girlfriend. Pomona College era, ~1986–1988.
She was at Claremont McKenna, right next door. Opinionated, confident, very intelligent. Got my humor — most of it, anyway. My father hated her. That’s probably not unrelated to why the relationship was what it was.
She designed tank-killer smart munitions at Aerojet Electrosystems and called it “Merchants of Death.”
Her 1987 Valentine’s card: “Mere nerds can’t describe how wonderful you are.”
Post-graduation, the relationship didn’t survive. We went different directions.
There’s a photo of her sitting on the spare tire on the hood of the 109 Land Rover in the desert.
