Dalton's Roadhouse, San Marcos.

So I’ve been busy making rash decisions, and I’m celebrating by having a piggy dinner. It feels good, though, to have come up with some answers.

I’m not moving out of the house in Vista until I have to. Instead of spending $1,200 a month on a rental — which I finally found one — I’m going to shell out a little on a storage unit. Much as I hate them, it will be good to have my stuff out in preparation for a move.

I’m buying a Sony 505 PC — specifically a PCG-N505VE. At 2.7 lbs, with a normal screen, trackpad instead of a fingertip mouse, and a bit faster and larger HD than the little PCG-C1X with the embedded camera. It’s several hundred dollars less, specifically $1,400. It’s really really thin.

Too bad none of the PCs have network support built in. But I can get a 10/100 netcard, and it does have a built-in modem.

I’m tired of spending my own money on this shite. I’m perfectly willing to keep spending my money on Macs, though.

Also: Gram and Gramp. Kathie emailed to say that Gramp wants to die, would really like to stop the treatments and just fade away — and we’re not sure whether Gram would really notice. Sad. Makes me feel as if we’ve abandoned them, which I guess is really more Dad and Alan and Kathie’s responsibility.

Need to have my tuxedo cleaned again. Ho hum.

Fred Heald Sr., “Gramp,” passed away in early 2000. Fred had been meaning to go up and see him since November. This is the last journal entry that mentions him alive.
