Gila Bend: 1100 Friendly People and 5 Old Crabs

Postcard from Gila Bend, Arizona. Addressed to “Fred Head, 111 Aluadog Dr., Vista, Ca.” — they spelled my name wrong on both counts.

The sign on the front of the card says: GILA BEND WELCOMES YOU — HOME of 1100 Friendly PEOPLE AND 5 OLD CRABS.

Dad wrote first:

“Hi Fred, This is such a wonderful spot. I thought you’d enjoy getting a card from here. Remember coming back from White Star trip in the old iron — Scout Fuelling up on ice cubes? It is cold even now, but born is still edifying!”

Mom added a line: “b’day!”
