Red Bull Inn, Pittsburgh.

It’s been a long and eventful week. This is the week of the presidential election that would not end. I’ve been spending it in New Orleans and mostly Pittsburgh.

Tired of checking CNN to see more mixed news — Bush is still ahead but Gore will be disputing the results. In any case the election will be nondecisive for a long time, and even after it’s settled will be no great power for the winner. Truly the results an anarchist would love.

Going out to see a movie tonight. I’m trying to think of places close to here that I haven’t been that I can drive to and back in a day.

The table next to me is filled with nuns, which didn’t strike me as all that strange until I realized — it’s Friday. And this is a steak place. Am curious if they’re all having the lobster, which although it’s not kosher must be okay.

“Adam and Eve on a raft — wreck 'em!”

The 2000 presidential election was called for Bush on November 8, then retracted, then the Florida recount began. Fred was watching it from hotel rooms in the South and Midwest while doing Telenomics installs.
