Jay Bee’s Bar-B-Q, Los Angeles. Rated ★★★★★
Somehow the Yelp map directed us to Western avenue, where there were lots of Barbecue joints, but they were all Korean! Nothing wrong with that, I love endless meat and kimchi, but I had bookmarked Jay Bee’s for beef ribs. Very small place, on a corner, with a couple of picnic tables outside and a line of 20 out the door. I think most of them were there for takeout. The line took a long time but we got to talk to the other patrons about kids today and what they stuff their faces with while they’re fiddling with video games. The counter woman was really funny. No, y’all can’t share the sides, 'cause once he starts eating them beans he ain’t never gonna let you have any. We got beef ribs and pork ribs, medium sauce, would probably have hot next time. Food came up really quick and we ate outside. The ribs and the sides were great. Well cooked and meaty, four bones in the small dinner and about 8 pork on the half slab. Just enough for me, nearly too much for my friend. The beans with bits of meat were indeed fantastic. Very messy and no sink to wash our hands, but we’d brought our own wet wipes. Still smelled like Q all afternoon. Nothing wrong with that either!
