And the first journal entry on the new iBook. Damned fine machine I must say even though I haven’t had much of a chance to use it; and of course moving everything to OSX has been a bit of a challenge.

I had the best damn flying day I ever had this afternoon. Lots of good steady wind, not a lot of other planes trying to knock me down, my plane is lighter and a lot better behaved. And I guess despite the shit that went on today at work I was in a good mood; stopped off with Don at the Chinese place and chatted with the waitress and had fried spicy garlicky chicken.

Only things I’ve found so far about the iBook and OSX that are a little annoying: battery life when sleeping and the wake up from sleep. Also will take a little getting used to this keyboard — I like it but it catches my fingers like the other iBook used to. But Airport is really cool; I’m online now, though I haven’t needed to be.

This fucking computer rocks. In comparison to the other computers I’d been using I would far rather be using this.

I could sit here and work on perl code, I guess. I like to think of myself as sort of a modern-day Hemmingway. I suppose if I were actually writing stories instead of this I’d qualify.

Once again I wonder if anyone will ever read this journal; I still can’t be sure it won’t be lost irretrievable, tomorrow.

June 1, 2001. Fred had been journaling on a Newton 2100 for years. The iBook with Airport and OSX was the handoff moment. The Newton went to the top shelf.
