The French West Indies staple — rhum agricole, a side slice of lime, and a touch of cane syrup. An Ed Hamilton recipe; traditionally served with no ice and made to each drinker’s taste (“chacun prépare sa propre mort”).

Ingredients

  • Side slice of lime
  • Bit of brown sugar syrup
  • Strong white rum (rhum agricole)

Instructions

  1. Add a side slice of lime and a bit of brown sugar syrup to a short glass.
  2. Press the lime lightly to release its oils.
  3. Add the strong white rum and stir.
